Time to say Goodbye

Your BDSA Steering Committee met on the 26th March 2022 ahead of the BDSA AGM. At that meeting and after careful consideration a decision was taken to dissolve the BDSA as an Association.

This decision was ratified at the BDSA Annual General Meeting at Burnley FC on 31st March 2022. The meeting was attended by Club Representatives.

 

The unanimous decision to dissolve was taken by the Steering Committee, taking into account:

  • Scathingly negative feedback from our Members and non members over a range of issues and problems with Burnley FC…

  • Little or no progress on many long outstanding initiatives and improvements agreed with the Club.

  • A long list of broken promises from Burnley Football Club.

  • Closure of the South East Accessible Stand and the hurt this has caused those evicted. There is currently no commitment to reopen the Stand.

Your Steering Committee, over the last three years, has worked tirelessly with Burnley, the Premier League, the Football Supporters Association and Level Playing Field, to improve engagement and communication with the Club and improve facilities to enhance and improve the match day experience for both home and away supporters with disability.

Sadly our strenuous efforts over time have not been reciprocated by Club Officials, and sadly there was no recognition or thanks at the AGM from the Club for the hundreds of voluntary hours put into the BDSA by some members of your Steering Committee.

 

We thank you for your loyal membership and support over the years, and wish you all the very best for the future. Here’s hoping for a positive end to what’s been a difficult and trying season.
